Custom Glock 17 Frame - There's a reason they're called the Honda Civics of the gun world because no other gun has more aftermarket parts, service and support than the Glock platform. Could the Honda Civic be too boring? But as much as it is mocked, there are many types of citizens You've squeezed in natural gas models, hybrid models, coupes, 4-door sedans, hatches, and heck, even a Type-R. The same is true for Glock handguns They can be as economical and basic as they get - but they can also be race guns competing with Sig Sauer, CJ or other 2011 brands.
Whether it's for a Glock slide or a Glock frame, custom Glock work includes a variety of modifications that owners can make to make their guns perform at a higher level, flashier or look unique; But there is usually a practical component to it as well The biggest draw for people to permanently modify their Glock frames is to improve the ergonomics and feel of the gun to enhance performance and the overall shooting experience. But of course, looking cool is a bonus
Custom Glock 17 Frame
We've previously gone into great depth about Glock steeping and its process, but today we're going to look at other modifications that can be made to a Glock frame.

The first thing to realize is that many, many companies will essentially copy someone else's design to a certain degree Regardless of design, all stippling patterns are compatible with a smooth, medium or aggressive finish. Check out previous blogs for a detailed guide on Glock stippling
As for the grip part of the frame, the border is the final touch that really makes a job pop and is usually a defining factor in separating a cheap budget job from a high end job.
An undercut is the removal of material below the trigger guard and where it meets the main grip or magwell area. This is where the middle finger rests Removing material in this area allows the user to have a higher angle and better purchase in that area Currently, GST-9 is an undercut game and it comes out of the box
The double undercut is probably the most popular but can be the most dangerous if you don't use a reputable stapler service. After all, the material is being removed from your pistol, and once it's done, it won't come back Depending on who you go to, a double undercut can mean a few different things At first, this simply meant a deep cut in the frame and a trigger guard Second, it can refer to material removed from the underside of the trigger guard that is designed to fit comfortably and ergonomically over the middle finger of the supporting hand. Notice in the photo above you can see two cuts in the trigger guard

Glock trigger guards have been refined by their owners for over a decade Later it became customary to turn the trigger guard, which looks like a rhinoceros horn Today we are seeing more steely horns being released and some material being removed from the front of the guard that just puts more emphasis on the horn. It gives a more aggressive look and offers better ergonomics to hold but of course to each their own
Love them or hate them, you have a few options when deciding what to do with your Glock frame's thumb holes.
Some people prefer finger grooves but if they are reduced, it can be difficult to improve your stance if the gun is initially held incorrectly or at a good angle. For custom work involving the Glock 26/27/33, it seems that there are many owners who keep an aperture that helps a lot with the subcompact Glock frame. The Glock 20 below has finger groove articulation which is an option
For those who still appreciate the finger grooves but don't want them to be so prominent, they can be reduced so that they're there to provide a strong grip support but not so much that it's impossible to improve or adjust. Fly without it Tearing up your shooting hand (depending on how aggressive the stippling pattern is).

Then there are those who can't even stand the toes open at all - they can be removed entirely, and many argue that there is actually more surface comfort that way. Or, if you're into freestyle, you can always try the Gen5 Glock because they're without the finger grooves and stock stippling, which, as mentioned above, is actually quite comfortable.
This is the most sought after method for getting a custom Glock frame color Sure you can always use spray paint and a rattle-can but the finish won't feel as substantial or durable compared to a proper Cerakote job. Cerakote is a ceramic-based paint that has become extremely popular in the gun community for its ability to produce high quality designs that have incredible resistance to abrasion, corrosion, chemicals and hardness – all of which combine to create an extremely durable finish with tight tolerances. While everyone looks smart
On the downside we've seen some professionals charge as little as $120 for a semi-full frame stippling package but we'd stay away from these service providers and look for package deals around $275 or more. Of course, if you want to go wild, you can get a custom Glock job from Agency Arms Build Services (for Glocks), Taron Tactical Innovations, or buy a SAI Tier One Glock with all the accessories. Direct from Salient Arms International Big caveat, this can run you anywhere from $400 to $2400...the price of an extra or several Glock handguns!
If you're going to keep your gun concealed in your waistband, go for a smooth stippling finish If it's more for "duty carry", then a medium finish might be better depending on who you work for and what that organization's policy is on modified handguns/service pistols. If you are going to compete and run a full race shotgun, do as aggressive steeping as you can as this will reduce overtime and smooth the part with enough use. Ciracote paint jobs are relatively reasonable in cost, excluding shipping and handling; The service should only cost $75 unless you have a complex design on your custom Glock frame.
